Parents & Carers

We recognise the importance of parental support and involvement in a child’s education and put great emphasis on working in partnership with parents and carers. Teachers and Learning Mentors meet with parents and carers regularly  to discuss children’s progress and agree targets for the following term. In addition, we have workers whose specific role is to support parents and carers in all aspects of children’s development: our  Family Mentors and our Social Worker, together with our Clinical Psychologist and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, work closely with families, aiming to:

  • build positive relationships between parents/carers and school
  • engage parents and carers in partnership
  • enable parents and carers to support their child’s academic learning
  • build positive relationships between parent and child
  • provide emotional support for parents
  • increase parents’ capacity to support their child independently
  • provide practical support for the  family in managing behaviour.
