The Department of Education’s policy is to suppress publication of figures relating to a cohort of 5 pupils or fewer. This is intended to reduce the risk of individual pupils being identified from published data. For this reason we do not publish data here on our Key Stage 2 (KS2) results, and we are not included in the DfE school performance tables website.
Mainstream primary schools measure their impact on learning in terms of pupils’ progress between Key Stages. For Robson House this is not always a valid measure of our impact on pupils’ learning. This is because pupils join us at different points in their primary school careers (at anywhere from 5 years old to 11 years old) and they stay with us for varying lengths of time (from between 6 months to 4 years).
For this reason we analyse pupils’ progress on a term-by-term basis and calculate an annual rate of progress even if a pupil stays with us for less than a year. Our on-going analysis indicates that pupils at Robson House close the gap between their own attainment and the expected national levels of attainment. This means that on average they are making progress in their learning at a rate faster than national expectations. Usually, pupils arrive at Robson House achieving at below nationally expected academic levels. Once their social, emotional and mental health needs are met at Robson House, they re-engage with learning and usually make rapid progress.
